This means your classes should ideally be conducted entirely in English. It’s all about creating an environment where your students can fully immerse themselves in the English language, encouraging them to think, speak, and even dream in English!

While fluency in the local language isn’t a requirement, having a basic understanding of Spanish can certainly enhance your experience in Spain. It can help you navigate daily life more efficiently, form deeper connections with the locals, and enrich your overall cultural experience.

Every day in the classroom brings new challenges and rewards. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect from your role as an English teacher:

  • Classroom Management: Expect to wear the hat of a manager, ensuring a conducive learning environment. This includes managing student behavior, fostering a positive learning environment, and maintaining discipline.
  • Student Assessment: Regular assessments will be part of your role to gauge student progress. This means designing tests and assignments, grading them, and providing constructive feedback to help students improve.
  • Cultural Exchange: As an English teacher, especially in a foreign country, you’ll often serve as a cultural ambassador. You’ll have the opportunity to share aspects of your own culture and learn about your students’ cultures in return.
  • Making an Impact: Perhaps the most fulfilling aspect is the positive impact you can make. From helping a shy student speak confidently to seeing your class ace their English exams – these moments are truly rewarding.
